Leon County Schools Seeking Advisory Board Participants

Board Member Bill Nimmons of Leon County Schools has a message for our TalTech members interested in serving our local school district:

This note is to request your participation as a member on Leon District Schools’ Technology Standards Technical Advisory Board (TAB). This TAB is called upon to oversee a fair and comprehensive process in our arriving at district-supported technical standards for workstations, printers, and other computerized equipment for use by schools and district staff.

The fiscal challenges which now face our schools are as great as any we have ever experienced.  There are $3-5 million in technology purchases made annually in support of the schools and district enterprise systems.  Your assistance and input to us in this area is critical to the quality of our standards setting.

It is important that this process be objective and represent the best value and fit for the school district’s needs. Having outside community business representation and participation is essential to our having an independent view and input in our recommendations. It is expected that there will be three meetings over the next few weeks to consider the process, and to review options and costs in coming to recommendations for the best value and fit for our schools.
